The research group of experimental cardiac electrophysiology and molecular cardiac biology at the University Hospital Magdeburg focuses on translational research on atrial fibrillation. The group established in vivo and in vitro models to determine functional processes in atrial and ventricular remodelling during AF.

Professor Andreas Goette is an Associate Professor based at the Division of Cardiology at the University Hospital Magdeburg and Chief of Cardiology at St. Vincenz Hospital Paderborn. He is Head of Clinical and Experimental Cardiac Electrophysiology.
After Medical School Dr Goette performed research fellowships from 1994-95 in Cardiac Electrophysiology and in the year 2000 in “in-vitro differentiation of pluripotent stem cells” at the Emory University in Atlanta, USA.
He has published more than 100 manuscripts on molecular biology of atrial fibrillation and cardiac arrhythmias.
In 2010 Dr Goette was co-author of the European Guidelines for AF management.
