Philipps-Universität Marburg

The Philipps-University Marburg (PUM) consists of 16 faculties including the Faculty of Pharmacy. The main focus of the group led by Prof. Kockskämper is atrial physiology/pathophysiology and subcellular Na+ and Ca2+ handling in cardiac myocytes with specific reference to cellular mechanisms of arrhythmias.

Contact: Professor Dr. Jens

Professor Dr. Jens Kockskämper is full professor and group leader at the Institute for Pharmacology and Clinical Pharmacy at the Philipps-University Marburg. He received his PhD from Ruhr-University Bochum, Germany, and was then at Loyola University Chicago, USA (Physiology), University Medicine Göttingen, Germany (Cardiology) and Medical University of Graz, Austria (Cardiology).

Key expertise includes cellular electrophysiology (patch clamp studies), subcellular Ca handling in excitation-contraction and excitation-transcription coupling, Na handling, load/stretch, signal transduction (cardioactive peptides, cAMP, IP3, NO), and cellular mechanisms of arrhythmias.
